Hey there!
My name is Ellen, and I am an Australian-based writer and Mum to three beautiful ADHD and autistic kids.
My parenting journey was smooth sailing until I found out I was pregnant with twins when my daughter was just 13 months old. To further complicate things, one of my twins was diagnosed with a complex heart condition when I was 16-weeks pregnant.
The first two years of having three kids under two was a complete blur but I found I could manage the chaos fairly well. As they got older, instead of things becoming easier, it felt like it got much harder.
Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would be raising three neurodivergent kids. My understanding and experience of ADHD and autism were limited, so I had to dive in headfirst to make sure I was supporting my kids the best I could.
A naturally quiet and introverted person, I have been thrown into the deep end of being a carer and advocate. Never one to want to rock the boat, I find myself having to stand up and be much braver than I feel to ensure my kids have the compassion and support they deserve. Now I want to help carers like me, feel supported to do the same.
Being a carer is the most honourable thing you can do for your loved ones, but it is also the most challenging. It is so easy to get lost in your caring responsibilities and forget to carve out time and space for yourself.
An adjusted life is challenging but it can be so full of joy. I want to share what I learn from my experiences, seek answers to things I don’t understand and ensure that carers like me have access to quick information to equip them on their journey.
I believe in having a community of support is so important in this journey. You can get in touch with me through my social pages or by sending me an email.
